City Thread项目由SPORTS事务所设计，是位于美国田纳西州查特怒加市的城市户外装置，并在 < Passageways2.0>国际竞赛中获胜，将城市内被忽略废弃的6200平方英尺的小巷改造成了充满活力的城市空间。
项目所在地田纳西州查特怒加市是美国第一个投资1-gig光纤互联网而闻名的城市，这项互联网基础设施的建设促进了当地的经济发展。所以，位于这样一座展示当代基础设施如何改善都市生活的地方，设计将是社会基础设施元素的组成部分之一。城市内的市民和游客都可以来到这个特殊的公共空间，享受一份随性的聚会，所以这个装置起到了社会连接器的功能，连接人与人，人与空间。
一条500英尺（约152米）连续不断的浅绿色钢管和蓝色油漆涂刷的几何形在小巷空间内以之字形形态将整个小巷空间划分成一个多种多样的小空间，为来访者提供可进行多类活动的空间场所。在这个过程中，City Thread装置也自然的将来访者和当地居民联系在一起。
借助于装置的几何形状和小巷两侧相邻建筑及中间通道的空间关系，这条小巷拥有了很多具有“潜在功能”的空间，包括休闲座椅空间，迷你小型舞台，电影放映墙等。为了让更多人来访使用，在建成后的几年将由用户，当地居民和项目负责人一同维护这片场地，这样即使社区和居民随着时间有所更替，这片空间也仍可以保持活力。
装置由6种不同外形的钢管部件组成，主要是不同长度的直线钢管和5种不同半径的弯曲部分的部件。在工厂，我们将76个部件（38个直线钢管和38个弧形部件）焊接加工成26个大型部件并依次搬运到了项目场地。26个部件经过依次排序现场焊接后，形成贯穿整个小巷的户外结构物。焊接完成后的结构物通过混凝土垫板固定在地面上，并用螺栓固定在两侧相邻建筑物上。
地面和建筑墙面上的蓝色油漆喷刷几何图形加强了由之字形结构物创造的小规模空间感。小巷内设计是使用了11个大型彩绘几何，约160平方米。City Tread项目最终将城市内被遗忘，破败，未使用的空间通过设计巧妙的开发成为社区提供活力的资产。
City Thread, designed by SPORTS Architects, is an urban outdoor installation located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, and was created in the United States. Passageways2.0 & gt; Won an international competition to transform a neglected, abandoned 6,200 square foot alley in the city into a vibrant urban space.
The city of Chattanooga, Tennessee, where the project is located, is known for being the first city in the United States to invest in 1-gig fiber optic Internet, and the construction of this Internet infrastructure has promoted local economic development. So, in a place that showcases how contemporary infrastructure can improve urban life, design will be an integral part of the social infrastructure element. Both citizens and visitors in the city can come to this special public space and enjoy a casual gathering, so the installation functions as a social connector, connecting people, people and space.
A continuous 500-foot (152-meter) light green steel pipe and blue paint painted geometric shape in the alley space in a zigzag pattern to divide the entire alley space into a variety of small Spaces, providing visitors with space for a variety of activities. In this process, the City Thread installation naturally connects visitors with local residents.
With the help of the geometry of the installation and the spatial relationship between the adjacent buildings on both sides of the alley and the middle passage, the alley has many Spaces with "potential functions", including leisure seating space, mini stage, movie projection wall and so on. In order for more people to come and use the site, users, local residents and project leaders will work together to maintain the site for several years after completion, so that the space will remain vibrant even as the community and residents change over time.
The device is composed of 6 different shapes of steel pipe parts, mainly different lengths of straight steel pipes and 5 different radii of bending parts. At the factory, 76 parts (38 straight steel pipes and 38 curved parts) were welded and processed into 26 large parts and transported to the project site in turn. The 26 components are sequenced and welded on site to form an outdoor structure that runs through the alley. The welded structure is fixed to the ground by concrete pads and bolted to adjacent buildings on both sides.
Blue paint-sprayed geometry on the ground and building walls enhances the sense of small-scale space created by the zigzag structure. The interior design of the alley is made using 11 large painted geometers, approximately 160 square meters. The City Tread project finally turns forgotten, run-down, unused Spaces within the city into assets that provide vitality to the community through the cleverly designed development.
