Bridging the Divide

PROPOSED PROJECT

This is a proposed light installation for 2020 to commemorate the 75th annual observance of the bombing of Dresden by Allied forces in World War II. Light gently flows back and forth along the expanse of the historic Augustusbrücke (Augustus Bridge), linking the River Elbe’s opposing shores. The project is a hopeful and poetic vision towards bringing together current opposing political forces and “bridging the divide” in today’s ideological conflicts, as the the forces of nationalism and xenophobia are on the rise around the globe.
