Jeppe Hein
Jeppe Hein
Jeppe Hein uses stainless steel panels ranging from three to nine feet to create a maze of reflective columns that allow the viewer to blend in with their surroundings. The reflection column is rotated from high to low, but it is not a complete mirror, and different scenes are cut off and interspersed with each other. There are other viewers in the maze, making for an interesting and strangely intimate experience.
Jeppe Hein thinks mirrors are special in a way. "I don't think it's a material that, when I use mirrors, allows me to construct utopian and illusory Spaces in my garden." Once the mirrored sculpture is placed, the viewer does not focus on the material, but on the reflection of the object."
