The city as something chaotic, changing, as a creative space. Thinking sensations and experiences that he gave me from architecture. The man within this current society, can download electronic music from Russia or buy vegetables at Don Mario's, cars, planes, etc. faster and faster; within cities worldwide. This led me to think of a work that could be built using the city as a support, without having to go through a museum.
Caja is the first urban intervention that I carry out, developing a sculpture with urban characteristics that could in some way reformulate public space as an anonymous place, where it can be seen not only by a specialized spectator, but also by a casual passerby, expanding the exhibition space. .
A material that synthesizes these ideas is the cardboard box. It seemed ideal to me, because it is a light, transportable, low-cost element that can be worked with a minimum of tools, generating large volumes.
I was also interested in the fact that the work was not something static, that it could be recycled, transformed or used for other things after being exhibited, its ephemeral nature.
The idea of representing the figure of a human being with boxes as if they were apartments or buildings, empty volumes in a synthetic form without expression.
Based on these conclusions, it begins to manage with institutions and companies during 2 years of work to specify its realization.
This work was located at the intersection of Bulevar San Juan and Cañada streets in the city of Córdoba, Argentina in August 2006 with a dimension of 2m long x 1.50m wide x 8.50m high, weighing 400kg. We worked with two assemblers .
