Wind gently whispering over water and land. Light streaming through mist, refracted into a rainbow. Trees standing silent, accepting of the burdens you lay on their waiting branches. Do you remember being here? Do you remember the feeling of being welcomed in nature?
My work captures these emotions in large scale immersive formats. Influenced by abstract and textile art, I stitch collages and kinetic sculptures that bring the viewer into an altered perspective, one where they can feel the wonder and acceptance of the natural world. Nature embraces us all and my work aims to remind the audience of the egalitarian wonder of our planet.
Jane was born in North Carolina and received a BA in Visual Arts Applications from NC State and a K-12 Visual Arts Teacher Certification from East Carolina University in 2005. She has exhibited her art throughout The Triangle, including at 311 Gallery, VAE, and Durham Art Guild. Jane’s work can be viewed on her website and at her public studio, #217 at Artspace in Raleigh, NC. Jane was recently featured on CW22. You can learn more about her installation work and where to see it here.
