背景

Welcome to my rainbow!
I am a crystal rainbow artist. I use crystal filters to refract sunlight， and capture the colors with a digital camera. These colorful images are at the heart of my Crystal Visions.
My art is a celebration of light and color. I call it crystal rainbow art, but my rainbows are not your average, everyday rainbows. The great impressionist Claude Monet once said the real subject of his art is the light. For me, its the colors. Nobody else has such colors!
The abstract approach frees my imagination and sparks my creativity. I follow the Vulcan tenet of “Infinite diversity in infinite combinations.” I am always searching for new colors, new techniques, new ideas. I might carefully craft an intricate design, or just let the colors run, and go where they take me.
Background
Psychedelic art, astrophotography, and laser light shows are major influences.
As a child in the 60s I was immersed in the psychedelic sounds, sights, and vibes of that era. Jefferson Airplane, Iron Butterfly, and T Rex filled my ears, while I pored over album and poster art by R. Crumb, Peter Max, and Roger Dean. In my teens I was entranced by lasers and colorful light shows at rock concerts.
During college I was a planetarium technician at Carnegie Science Center, where I learned how to run the Zeiss console for star shows and Laserium shows. The planetarium exposed me to science and astronomy subjects, and also to modern art. We hosted early computer-based art projects, including software generated art and digital art stations. I had access to all of these cool new toys.
The planetarium was a great environment for this astro nerd. I was already a Star Trek/Star Wars/Cosmos fan. Carl Sagan is an inspiration, as is George Lucas, as is H.R. Giger.
The sun is my muse, the rainbow my palette.
Today I don’t use lasers, or computer rendering programs, or long exposures at night. I refract sunlight with prismatic crystals, capture the rainbow colors with a digital camera, and use computer tools to shape them into unique and beautiful designs.
